Training Programs

SDTC is one of the oldest and largest running clubs in the country. We strive to provide the finest training available whether your goals are to finish your first marathon, set a marathon PR or run a half marathon.

Rockin’ ‘n’ Runnin’ Training Program  (January to June)
In the first half of the year, the RnR Training Program prepares athletes for Spring half and full marathons. This is the biggest training program in San Diego and is a great way to get in running shape, meet new friends, and achieve your running goals. Our training schedules target the San Diego Rock n’ Roll, San Diego Half Marathon, and Mountains 2 Beach, though many of our runners chose other Spring races.

“Half Mad” Training Program  (June to August)
Our Summer training program targets the final Triple Crown series race, AFC Half Marathon, at the beginning of August. Our supported Saturday long runs

“Whatever Half” Training Program (September to December)
Our Fall training program is intented to prepare you for “whatever” half marathon you want. Many of our athletes are preparing for SD Holiday Half, Silver Strand or Carlsbad Half. Some of our runners also chose to train for Fall marathons as well, adding on extra mileage during our Saturday long runs.

Boston Marathon Training Program (November to April)
Starting in November, the SDTC Boston Marathon training program kicks off. Recently among the largest club showings at Boston, we had over 50 people run this year. This is your program if you have qualified and are looking to finish strong as there are always a large percentage of re-qualifiers and new PRs among the SDTC group.
