The Next Level Training Program is for seasoned athletes in the Rockin’ ‘n’ Runnin’ Training Program looking to utilize the latest technology, advanced techniques, and the training concepts proven to take the next step towards achieving your goals. This program is restricted to athletes who have run Sub 2 hours for a Half Marathon or Sub 4 hours for A Full Marathon and meet all experience and training requirements. There will be a cap for participants in the program for the start of January. Entry is not guaranteed! Individuals are encouraged to apply early to guarantee a spot in the program.

Sign Up / Join RnRProgram Enrollee Requirements:
- Completed a Sub 2 hour Half OR Sub 4 Hour Full Marathon in the past 2 years
- Register for Rockin’ ‘n’ Runnin’ and complete the Next Level Program Application for Admission for Admission
- Willing to commit 15+ Hours per week to training
- Including but not limited to strength training, cross training, strides, stretching, hip mobility, and recovery
- Active Participation in Program
- Complete assignments on time, attend seminars (when possible).
- Experience with performance training plans and specialty workouts (i.e. long runs, tempo runs, speed workouts, etc.).
- Able to run 5-7 days per week
- Able to start at 35 miles per week including a 8 mile long run by program launch
- Willing to run up to 50 miles per week during heavy blocks of training
- Have a GPS watch able to take multiple splits (Up to 20)
- Willingness to utilize the latest industry technology to improve performance
- Have a great attitude!

Next Level Coach: Matthew Deja
Matthew joined the San Diego Track Club Coaching staff in January of 2016. Matthew is the founder of the Next Level Program. He is a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach who has a multifaceted background with running as a Collegiate Athlete, Meet Official, Running Specialty Retailer, and Race Director. A standout runner in college, Matthew holds 5 school records for the Scots. In May 2012, Matthew started his post collegiate journey running for Playmakers Elite and continues to compete in events ranging from elite road miles to half marathons all throughout the US.
In addition to working as a Consultant in the healthcare sector, Matthew is the Director of the Next Level Training Program and Half Marathon Coach for the Rockin’ n’ Runnin’ program. He has developed lifting, nutrition, and training programs tailored to athletes of all ages and abilities for events ranging from the 60-meter dash to Ultra marathons. Matthew has worked with a World Champion, Olympians, NCAA Champions, All Americans, State Champions, US trials qualifiers, and Ironman World championship qualifiers.
As a Coach, Matthew’s aspiration is to be fully engaged with his athletes to help them achieve their goals, defy their limits, develop their character, and overcome adversity.
RnR Training Program Director & SDTC Metro Division Coach: Paul Greer
Paul Greer is a Professor of Health and Exercise Science at San Diego City College and has a Master’s degree in Exercise Science and 33 years coaching experience. A sub-4 minute miler (3:59.79), he starred on the San Diego State University track team and holds the school record there at 1500 meters. Paul competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials and has a personal best time in the 1500 meters at 3:39.05. He is also the Director for the very successful Rockin’ ‘N’ Runnin’ full and half marathon training program.
Paul’s workouts cater to runners of all ages and abilities and he provides training schedules to his athletes on an individual basis.
Track workouts are geared toward popular local races such as the Carlsbad 5000, Rock N Roll San Diego and the AFC Half Marathon. Paul’s structured workouts ensure that runners train in groups of equal ability to maximize their athletic potential.
