Meet our @milestonerunning Runner of the Week:

Rachael Burch didn’t begin running until her now-husband made her dust off her tennis shoes and dragged her on a run almost three years ago. Since then she’s been hooked.

She moved to San Diego in August and went looking for a way to meet new people and get involved in the community. San Diego Track Club has allowed her to stay motivated in her training while surrounded by a huge group of supportive teammates.

The San Diego Track Club is excited to be renewing

The San Diego Track Club is excited to be renewing our partnership with @Injinji toesocks for 2023. San Diego-based Injinji creates performance toesocks that offer blister protection, moisture wicking, and natural toe splay. Track Club members will receive a free pair of socks at one of the next two club workouts (Saturday, March 11 or Tuesday, March 14).

Kris Hergert ran his first 5K with his mom in Connecticut in the 1990s. Fast forward to today, he’s been working in higher education for 20+ years and finished a few Ironmans. Kris is honored to be part of the great workouts and community that are built every Tuesday and Saturday. The Club deserves all the credit for the training programs that carried him to qualify to run this year’s Boston Marathon.

Congratulations to all runners who are setting and meeting personal goals. Whether that’s running a 5k or, like Victoria, qualifying for the #BostonMarathon for the first time, keep that drive! You are amazing.

Victoria never thought she could meet the qualifying time to run Boston but she set a goal to try.

“I figured that even if I couldn’t do it, I’d become a better person and runner in the process of trying.”

Vitoria qualified with a time of 3:25:55 at the @venturamarathon on Feb. 26. Congrats! 🦄 🎉

Meet our @milestonerunning Runner of the Week:

After many years of avoiding running, Suzie Bigley fell in love with the pastime in 2019 while stationed in the Pacific Northwest. Since then, she has completed two half marathons and she is very excited to participate in her first full marathon, Mountains 2 Beach, in May. When she’s not enjoying a long run along the beautiful coastline of San Diego, Suzie also enjoys reading, yoga, and trying new restaurants. Suzie couldn’t do what she does without the loving support of her husband (Troy), dog (Luna), and San Diego Track Club family.

Meet our @milestonerunning Runner of the Week:

Susie Coleman was a competitive swimmer in high school and then became a triathlete 20 years ago. By 2006 she focused on running and ran her first marathon in Carlsbad in 2006 and has since run more than 20. Last year, she ran six marathons including the Houston Marathon where she established her 3:21 PR and then followed that effort with the London Marathon in October. She's qualified for the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championship two years in a row. Susie competes on the @sdtcwomensteams in the middle of all her marathons and recognizes that running so much has probably led to some of her injury issues but that has not deterred her.

She is now concentrating on getting in race shape for the upcoming Boston Marathon and trains with our Boston group while accompanied by her dog for even the 20 milers. She has run three Boston Marathons since 2006 and wants to make this year's effort her marathon PR but will have to do it without her poodle, Poppy, pulling her along.

We started with a team warmup and then #SanDiegoTrackClub runners showed up to run their first 10k, to PR, to place, to have fun and to support the San Diego #RunningCommunity. Then we took time to socialize and refuel @pina_sd.

Meet our @milestonerunning Runner of the Week: Ralph Lufkin.

Ralph began his running career in high school, where the local newspaper referred to him as “Triple Threat Lufkin” for earning points in the high jump, shot put and 800m events. After four years of focusing on the hammer throw in college, Ralph returned to running and hasn’t stopped since. Finding a local running community has helped Ralph stay sane and grounded throughout his career as a naval officer. He loves being a part of the San Diego Track Club family, and is currently participating in the Rockin’ ‘n’ Runnin’ program for the second consecutive year.

Sending a #MedalMonday shoutout to @roxyrunn for finishing 🥉 female overall in the San Pasqual Valley Half Marathon and @ernieremillard for taking 🥈overall in the San Pasqual Valley 20 mile @ersevents race. And congrats to @lindac730 who Boston qualified at the Mesa Marathon with a time of 3:45:25.
