Bill Aaron I am seeking re-election to further my work with City Parks & Recreation by becoming the newest member of the Balboa Park Committee, continuing as co-chair of the Balboa Park/Morley Field Recreation Council and becoming a member of the a newly formed Balboa Park steering committee. I would also like to continue my work pursuing relationships with other clubs, running groups and retail outlets, race management companies and other San Diego running organizations to further San Diego Track Club’s leadership role in the San Diego. Thank you for this consideration.
Rashaad Forehand Rashaad has been running with the SDTC Boston and Whatever half marathon groups for the last three years. During that time he has also volunteered and mentored as his way of giving back to the group that has given him so much. He believes his strong business acumen and training analytics can be a valuable asset to the board. In addition he has a strong passion for running races around the world. With that being said he would like to coordinate SDTC trips to run races in the states and abroad. He believes we should take our spirit and love around the world!
Jessie McBride I have been running all my life and am very passionate about the sport. I joined SDTC when I moved to San Diego 2013. I am the SDTC Membership Chair and a current member of the Board of Directors. Additionally, I manage SDTC’s communications, social media and merchandise teams and assist with the training programs. I have a Civil Engineering degree and a project management background having worked in construction management for much of my career. Currently I work in the events industry, doing event management for running races and triathlons, doing customer service work, and volunteering to give back whenever possible. My goal is to continue to improve club communication and to grow membership and programs, while keeping the club financially
healthy.
Alex Samarin I have been an active member and volunteer with the San Diego Track Club for five years. As a SDTC Board member, my goals would be to: (1) Increase the visibility of the club in San Diego, (2) Find new and creative fundraising opportunities within the diverse San Diego fitness and sports culture, and (3) Further incorporate existing team members into volunteer and club activities, and increase membership as a whole. I believe that the future success of the SDTC lies in capturing the energy and efforts of new members with various backgrounds and perspectives. My experience and success in sharing the SDTC with first-time visitors – and to have them join and contribute – make me a great choice to be a formal representative of the club.
Beverly Silldorf Beverly has been a member of SDTC since 2012. Since joining SDTC and participating in the various training programs, she has progressed from a novice runner to an experienced marathon and half marathon runner. To date she has completed 8 marathons, and over 20 half marathons. During her tenure with SDTC Beverly has been recognized as SDTC runner of the week. Beverly is a long time San Diego resident and community member. She has lived in San Diego for 40 years and raised her family here. Both of her two boys participated in track during their high school tenure. She has served her local community as Parent Association President at La Jolla Country Day School, and as President of the Women’s arm of Seacrest Village Retirement Community. As a member of the San Diego running community Beverly will use her time to support SDTC, a resource that she uses herself, to benefit the community she cares about. In addition to her running experience, Beverly is a retired Human Resources (HR) manager. Retirement has meant that she now has additional time to give back to the running community via her participation on the Board of Directors. During her time as HR manager, Beverly promoted running in the community by persuading the owners of the business to pay for any employee that wanted to train & participate in the Silver Strand ½ marathon. Beverly will bring her considerable HR experience to benefit the SDTC by motivating others to get involved.
Daren Smylie I have been a member of the San Diego Track Club for the last 3 years. After my first year I fell in love with the club and it’s mission of helping runners of all ages and capabilities and looked for ways to give back to the club. My second year I began assisting with water station drops before the Saturday runs and volunteering to work the water stations. Over the last year I have had the privilege of serving as Treasurer for the San Diego Track Club. As Treasurer I worked with the Board of Directors to increase communication and transparency regarding the club’s finances. I am running for a position on the Board of Directors to continue my work as Treasurer and look for ways to expand membership and provide additional opportunities & perks to our current members.
